It’s true that almost all sewage collection systems rely mostly on gravity to do the work of collecting and transporting waste.
In 2015, an unusual incident happened on the construction site for a sewage lift station in British Columbia, Canada.
Lift stations that pump raw sewage and treatment plants that clean it to a level where it’s safe to release back into the environment are energy intensive processes as well.
