It seems that zebra stripes— and other graphic patterns— interfere with how biting flies process visual information to position themselves when landing, limiting their blood-sucking and disease-transmitting opportunities.

So, we're left with a population of people who are really suffering from pain, and it interferes with their life, but we don't understand where it comes from.

When I started taking these photographs, I really was on a mission to document examples of bad design, the way it frustrates and interferes.
