Spirals use variable radii to smooth out the centrifugal force that comes from going around a bend, and they allow the driver to steer gradually into and out of each curve without having to make sudden adjustments.
It smooths out the peaks and valleys of water demand not just on your pumps but all your upstream infrastructure, including your water treatment plant and raw water supply.
Sometimes an air chamber is included in the pump to smoothing out those sharp spikes in pressure and provide a more even flow rate out of the delivery pipe, reducing wear and tear on the pump components.
